Pulmonary rehabilitation program for elderly persons recovered from COVID-19 to restore normal pulmonary function and quality of life

Abstract

Elderly persons experience more persistent health problems after recovering from COVID-19 than younger adults. The present study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of pulmonary rehabilitation program for elderly persons recovered from COVID-19 to restore normal pulmonary function and quality of life. Design: A quasi experimental design was used. Setting: The study was conducted at the university hospitals in Beni-Suef and Benha City. The sample: convenience sample included 90 elderly persons recovered from COVID-19.Tools: three tools were used; tool (I): interviewing questionnaires composed of three parts; part1: personal characteristics of the elderly persons, part 2: Older People’s Quality of Life Questionnaire, part3: The Manchester Respiratory Activities of Daily Living Questionnaire. The second tool was geriatric depression scale. The third tool was spirometer test.
